TVXQ's agency SM Entertainment (hereafter SM) has revealed that "TVXQ's income division is 4:6"
According to 'Current Issues Magazine 2580' that was broadcasted on MBC on the 9th, TVXQ has earned 49.8 billion Won in the past 5 years. It said out of this 49.8 billion Won, 22.4 billion was from SM's investment. The remaining 27.4 billion Won was split between TVXQ and SM by a ratio of 4:6.
SM state, "Out of the enitre income, TVXQ received 40%, and SM took 60%," and "Out of the 27.4 billion Won, TVXQ took 11 billion Won and SM took 16.4 billion Won."
Also, with activities outside of Korea, SM stated that TVXQ took 70% while SM took 30%. SM also stated that the same division of 7:3 applied to overseas events, performances and commercials.
However, Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and YoungWoon Jaejoong have all replied to this claim by saying that, "The income calculation is unclear. We cannot completely trust this."
Regarding the 13-year contract, SM said, "We had to extend the contract's validity length if they were to perform outside of Korea," and "We thought of it as 3~4 years in Korea, 3~4 years in Japan and 3~4 years in China."
Before this, through their lawyer the three members revealed that, "This is a contract that basically lasts through and idol's entire career," and "We only received 0.4~1% of the entire album sales."
The three members of TVXQ filed for a Exclusive Contract Validity Suspension and Provisional Disposition Request against SM on the 31st of July.
